In a significant display of tribal solidarity, the Eight Tribes of Southwest Oklahoma convened on January 30th, 2025, for their first joint meeting in many years. Leaders from the Apache Tribe, Caddo Nation, Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes, Comanche Nation, Delaware Nation, Fort Sill Apache, Kiowa Tribe, and Wichita and Affiliated Tribes gathered to discuss the critical matter of Native Nations' exemption from federal program funding suspensions.
The meeting culminated in a landmark achievement, with all eight tribal nations drafting and signing a joint resolution addressing these crucial funding concerns. This unified action demonstrates the strength of our collective voice and our shared commitment to protecting the interests of our communities.
This historic meeting marks an important step forward in inter-tribal cooperation. The gathering of these sovereign nations and their unanimous agreement on the resolution reflects our dedication to working together for the collective good of all our people.
The meeting represents a renewal of the strong bonds between our tribes and our determination to face challenges with a unified voice. We look forward to continuing this spirit of collaboration and mutual support among the Eight Tribes of Southwest Oklahoma.
